Warrior Region in line for 2013 opener

Bryan Hulbert - TULSA, Okla. (April 14, 2013) As the bitter grip of winter gives way to the milder days of spring, the fourteenth year for the Speedway Motors Warrior Region opens with a pair of nights this weekend, beginning at the Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Mo. on Friday, April 19 and Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Mo. on Saturday, April 20.

Won over by Jonathan Cornell in 2012, the Sedalia, Mo. shoe will seek back-to-back titles with his return in the Kiowa Line Builders No. 28. Cornell capped off his 2012 season with a dominating performance; besting a 27 car field at the Springfield Raceway that combined the Warrior and Sooner Regions of the ASCS Nation.

A stand-alone event at the Valley Speedway on Friday, the Saturday swing at the Springfield Raceway will again feature a two in one show as the American Bank of Oklahoma Sooner Region joins the Warrior Region for the season’s only appearance for the Wing Sprint Cars at the quarter mile Missouri oval.

Friday, April 19 night’s events at the one-third mile Valley Speedway will have hot laps beginning at 7:00 P.M. with grandstands opening at 5:00 P.M. Support classes will include the Valley Midgets and Mod Lites. For more information on the Valley Speedway, log onto http://www.valleyspeedway.com.

Saturday, April 20 at the Springfield Raceway will have an earlier start time with gates opening at 2:00 P.M. and races slated to begin at 6:30 P.M. Other classes on tap include USRA Modifieds, USRA B Modifieds, Midwest “Modz” and Legend Cars. For more information on the Springfield Raceway, log onto http://www.springfieldraceway.com.

The 2013 season marks the twenty-second year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, which brings the best of Sprint Car racing to dozens of different tracks throughout the nation and into Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series, ASCS also consists of nine different Regions throughout the nation.
