Shane Cockrum Lands First ASCS Elite Non-Wing Win At Lawton

Bryan Hulbert – LAWTON, Okla. (July 23, 2022) A battle to the end at Lawton Speedway, the ASCS Elite Non-Wing Series presented by Abilene Powder Coating added a new winner to the list as Shane Cockrum bested the field of 23 at the Oklahoma oval.

Battling it out with Steven Shebester, the two traded the top spot three times before Cockrum took over for good on Lap 15. Pacing the final five laps, the No. 48c ran to a 0.729-second advantage to become the series 38th different winner.

Grabbing second with two laps to run, Caden McCreary was the first chaser, followed by Steven Shebester. Fourth went to Paul White, with Justin Zimmerman making up the top five.

Cody Price, Kobe Simpson, J.D. Fry, Joe Wood, Jr., and Christian Moore made up the top ten.

The ASCS Elite Non-Wing Series presented by Abilene Powder Coating races next on Saturday, August 6, at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway.
