Hagar Sweeps Night at Crowley’s Ridge Raceway for Fifth Victory of Season

Inside Line Promotions – WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (July 24, 2019) – Derek Hagar picked up his fifth win of the season last Friday night at Crowley’s Ridge Raceway during an ASCS Mid-South Region event.

“We started eighth in the heat race and made our way up to first,” he said. “I almost lost it with a couple laps left. I hit the brakes too hard going into the corner and it killed the motor. Thankfully it picked back up and I passed for the win on the last lap.”

Hagar was the high-points driver after his heat race performance and he drew the No. 1 during the feature redraw, which lined him up on the pole for the feature. He maintained the top spot until the checkered flag was waved.

“Saturday night we raced at Riverside International Speedway with the ASCS Mid-South Region,” Hagar said. “We got a lot of rain in the area so the track was pretty heavy and there wasn’t a ton of passing.”

Hagar started second in his heat race and finished in that position. He then lined up eighth in the main event, which was a hindrance since the race track stayed heavy all night.

“We didn’t do a whole of moving in the feature,” he said. “We only gained one spot. I went out with 38 tear-offs and came back in with eight left if that’s any indication of how the night went.

“Overall, it was a good weekend. The car was good and I was happy to get back into Victory Lane.”

Hagar will head to I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., this Saturday with the ASCS Mid-South Region.
