Inside Line Promotions – BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (Nov. 13, 2019) – Roger Crockett deemed his first full season of undertaking the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour schedule as a success.

Crockett, who transplanted himself in Oklahoma prior to the start of the 2018 season, ran the entire ASCS National Tour this year for the first time ever and the results were strong. He finished the season ranked third in the championship standings after earning a pair of wins, 11 top fives and 21 top 10s in 31 starts.

“We started the year competing how I anticipated we would, but also knowing we had a lot of room for improvement,” he said. “We hit a part of the year where expectations were much higher than how we were performing. Fortunately we were able to get headed the right way. We were hoping to win a few more races than we did, but after a rough summer to end up third in points and finish strong, we were certainly pleased.

“Going back to tracks a second time, I didn’t realize how much easier that makes it. I think it makes it easier off the track. The little changes you make to the race car and having some expectation of what the track will do. There’s more to that than I thought there’d be. I’ve always been good at going to new places and being good, but there is a difference going back to a track the second time.”

Crockett’s two national wins came at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., during a Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup preliminary night and at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, during the Winter Nationals.

“Winning at Skagit was a good one, but we won a race when we weren’t really running that great at the time,” he said. “To be able to fight back toward being consistent with top-five finishes and win one with consistency at the end of the year was the highlight. Another major thing was earlier in the year there were some races I didn’t do a good job behind the wheel. Now I feel like I’m a much better driver after getting some confidence and some consistency.”

Crockett’s two ASCS National Tour victories were the most he’s earned in a single season since 2013 and it marked his third straight season with a national triumph. He was also victorious at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., during a local event.

Additionally, Crockett ended the season tied for the third-most top 10s and tied for the fifth-most top fives during ASCS National Tour competition.

“I want to do the ASCS National Tour again,” he said. “That’s the No. 1 goal. We’ll continue to prepare things for doing that.

“I’m grateful for all of our supporters. Route 66 Chevrolet and Route 66 Nissan, Phil Del Rosa and my dad have been key components to our success.”
