Inside Line Promotions – LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Oct. 10, 2019) – Justin Henderson’s maiden voyage behind the wheel of the Mike Sandvig Racing No. 7 during 360ci sprint car action was highlighted by a 10th-place finish Friday night at I-30 Speedway.

The top 10 came during the preliminary night at the 32nd annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires with the ASCS Mid-South Region.

“Track conditions dictated things both nights and I feel we did everything we could to succeed,” Henderson said. “We got two separate track conditions both nights so we learned a lot, too.”

The event kicked off Friday with Henderson starting fourth in a heat race. He advanced one position to finish third. As a result of being among the top 40 cars in passing points, he moved on to a qualifier, in which he started seventh and finished fourth.

The result was good enough to lock him into the feature in the 13th starting spot. Henderson battled a tough race track that took rubber early to move forward three positions and finish 10th. The top 10 was the 10th of the season for the Sandvig Racing team.

“We were not bad Night 1, but we weren’t anything special either,” Henderson said. “We got a few positions early in the feature and after that the track dictated what we could do. We just held our own and came out with a top 10.”

Saturday night began with Henderson starting eighth in a heat race. He passed two cars to finish sixth. He then started 10th in a qualifier and advanced two positions again to place eighth. Henderson was forced to run a B Main. He rallied to pass four cars and finish sixth. However, it wasn’t enough to qualify for the A Main.

“Saturday night the track was just really slimy to start the night and it was completely different than Friday’s surface” he said. “We moved forward every time we hit the track, but starting position killed us. It’s tough when you see other guys who drew better are not passing cars and you are and yet you’re still on the outside looking in. But I feel good about the speed we had.”

Henderson and Sandvig will return to action Oct. 18 at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown and Oct. 19 at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., during the Jason Johnson Classic presented by FK Rod Ends with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.

“I think we have a really good baseline for both race tracks and I don’t see any reason we’re not contending for wins both nights,” Henderson said. “We know what works for us and what won’t. So we’ll take the week off and come in looking for a great weekend and I think we’ve got a good chance to run well.”
