Old School Racing’s Tankersley Eyeing Second Straight Win at Thunder Valley

Inside Line Promotions – HIGHLANDS, Texas (June 11, 2019) – Channin Tankersley takes the ASCS Gulf South Region points lead into an event in Louisiana this Saturday.
The Old School Racing competitor will return to Thunder Valley Speedway in Glenmora, which is where he registered a feature victory earlier this season during his first visit in more than a decade.
“I hadn’t been to that place in ages and we went back there and picked up where we left off back in the day,” he said. “We were solid there the last time we went and then to go back after such a long time and be up to speed was pretty good.”
Tankersley used a last-lap pass to score the triumph. It was one of his five top fives in six ASCS Gulf South Region races this season. That is the most of any driver and has led to Tankersley leading the championship standings by 121 points as Saturday marks the midpoint of the season.
“I’m laid back and level headed as it is so I try not to get too overconfident,” he said. “I just take it as it is and go out there and give 110 percent. If you have your stuff right and make good decisions then generally speaking you’ll have pretty decent nights.”
Following this weekend there are seven remaining ASCS Gulf South Region races. Four will be held at Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, Texas, where Tankersley won four times last year. He also has single-day events at Texana Raceway in Edna, Texas, and at Chatham Speedway in Chatham, La., before the season wraps up with one final visit to Thunder Valley Speedway.
