SAPULPA, Okla. (August 25, 2015) Capping off a busy week of racing this past Sunday at the Missouri State Fair Speedway and the Casey’s General Store High Roller Classic with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour, Blake Hahn took in three nights across Oklahoma and Missouri in Winged, Non-Winged, and Midget action.

Starting Wednesday, August 19 at the Lawton Speedway, Hahn went wingless with the USAC Southwest Series in their third annual Freedom Tour. Runner-up in his Heat, Blake started seventh and rode there until getting wrapped up in a caution on Lap 6 with Shon Deskins. Restarting at the tail, Blake was able to rebound to a sixth place finish.

“With the rain earlier in the day, the track was petty narrow early so you had to work if you wanted to pass someone. We got tangled that one time and had to come from the back and the track did start to widen out, but it was still a long night with so many cautions during the feature,” explained Hahn.

“It made it really hard to get into a rhythm, and that messed me up a few times but we were able to move through the field. The car was okay, but being my first non-wing start of the season, I was just happy that spinning was the worst thing that happened.”

Moving on to the Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla. the following night, Blake worked past race long leader, Brady Bacon, coming to the white flag for his first USAC Southwest A-Feature victory.

“I couldn’t be happier about winning, especially at Creek. That’s the first track I ever raced at, and having so many of my friends and family out there made it even better,” commented Blake.

“I got to second at one point in traffic and just over drove the corner and slipped back to fifth and when they had the next caution, the lapped cars stayed in line so I was able to use traffic again to get by those guys. We had a restart towards the end, and Brady had been running the top all the way around, and I just stuck the bottom in one and two and that’s where I was able to get around him.”

In addition to racing with the USAC Southwest Series, Blake also competed with the POWRi West Midgets for Ted Finkenbinder Racing.

“I want to thank Ted Finkenbinder for letting me run his car. The only time I get to run a Midget anymore is Shootout, Chili Bowl, and Port City when POWRi comes through at the start of the season, so coming out with a sixth place finish after starting 14th I was pretty happy.”

Putting the winged setup back under the Lucas Oil No. 52 for Sunday at the Missouri State Fair Speedway, the end result was not what the team had hoped for as Blake was forced to use a partial points provisional to start the A-Feature where he finished 18th.

“The car was great, we were just under powered for the half-mile,” said Hahn. “The track slicked off so we were able to move forward a little bit, but I just didn’t have anything coming off the corners and using the provisional puts us behind because I don’t think we have another one until mid-September so hopefully we’ll have our engine we lost at Knoxville back before we go to Texas Motor Speedway.”

Looking to this weekend, Hahn will take on the ASCS Red River Region at the Red River Speedway in Wichita Falls, Texas on Friday, August 28 and the Abilene Speedway in Abilene, Texas on Saturday, August 29.
