Lucas Oil ASCS Readying for First Oklahoma Visit of 2014

TULSA, Okla. (April 23, 2014) - Things will pick up in the month of May for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV American Real, as the National Tour returns to competition on Friday, May 2 at the Outlaw Motorsports Park just outside Muskogee, Okla.

Going into the history books, the series lone visit to the Outlaw Motorsports Park came during Speedweek on June 3, 2003 with Shane Stewart grabbing the win ahead of Garry Lee Maier and Zach Chappell.

Seth Bergman is the most recent winner in ASCS competition at the three-eighths mile oval, topping the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region on September 7, 2013. The only other ASCS sanctioned event held at the Outlaw Motorsports Park was on May 7, 2010 in which Jason Johnson topped the Sooner Region.

The first event of the season for the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV American Real National Tour in the series home state, the Friday spectacular will be paired with the ASCS Sooner Region and will also include the N.O.W. 600cc Micro Series.

Night one of a double header weekend with the Rock 'N Roll 50 at the Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., Jason Johnson currently leads the Lucas Oil ASCS driver standings by 11 markers over Tony Bruce, Jr.

Sam Hafertepe, Jr. trails by only 12 going into the season's sixth event with Brad Loyet 18 points removed from the championship lead. The top five rounds out with Johnny Herrera who sits a single point behind Loyet, and 19 behind Johnson.

Events on Friday, May 2 will see spectator gates opening at 4:00 P.M. Races are scheduled to begin at 6:00 P.M. (CT). General Admission tickets are $15 with discounts for kids 8-12 years of age.
